Surface Interval Episode 020 (mp3 - 10MB - 28 min)
LISTEN HERE TO SURFACE INTERVAL
As its been a while between shows, I went ahead and recorded an episode tonight without Bear and Dr B., as they were unavailable.
I start off with a chat about some things going on in the diving world that have got my eye:
- PADI releases new materials for Boat Diver and DPV Diver
- Also from PADI is a new PADI Tec Basics Distinctive Specialty
- TDI releases a similar course called TDI Intro to Tech
- Update on the Hollis Gear range to be finally released at DEMA
- The Oceanic Datamask
- United Divers has become a Project AWARE Go ECO operator, and is one of the more than 100 dive centres in Asia Pacific to make the commitment to eco-friendly diving practices under the Go ECO banner
After a break, I play a short interview with Larry Dague, CEO and founder of ScubaToys.com. Larry discusses the online dive market, generating buzz and more. Listen to this fascinating interview with a leader in retail dive sales -on and off line - in the US.
The Surface Interval Show now has its own Facebook Group. Join in on the conversation by being part of our group.

Hi Surfice Interval gents,
I’m a new listener to your programme having listened to the last few programmes. Wow!This is great stuff. Your chats are interesting and informative to beginners, through to the professional. My Wife and I are fairly new divers (under 3 years) but absolutely love the sport, having just gained our Rescue and Deep diver certification over in Bali.
I’ve been a listener the past year or two to the weekly MP3 downloads of the Florida based scubaradio.com. But have grown tired of the lack of good interesting Diver related information relevant to divers anywhere. To much fluff, advertising, mermaids and general messing around.
Your programme delivers! Only wish it was available every couple of weeks or so. But I understand your work and dive commitments probably make it difficult.
I wonder if we could get the next ex HMAS ship as an artificial reef in Tassie after Victoria get theirs?
