Like most divers, I feel strongly about the need to protect our oceans.  As the source of 70% of the world’s oxygen, and the basis for many vital food chains, protecting the oceans is something that we must do to protect ourselves.

I was looking through the Project AWARE website, and noticed something there about Project AWARE’s getting behind “The Big Switch”.  Intrigued I surfed over, and I was impressed by this simple, action oriented website.

The Big Switch is an informative site for all Australians who want to learn more about climate change, and what we as individuals can do about it.  It gives you action plans that you can choose to implement, and informs you on the issues surrounding those plans.

Running up to the Australian Federal Election sometime later this year (the date is yet to be announced), the site also rates all Members of Parliament and other candidates for their environmental policies and actions, and gives back ground into how the ratings have been calculated.

If you’re an Australian, please take the time to inform yourself.  Surf over to The Big Switch and think about your action plan!
