Nikon D200 appears (momentarily) on Nikon’s Digital Website

In many respects, the Nikon D100 was the turning point for many underwater photographers switching from film to digital. I continue to use the D100 as my primary camera, even though newer models (D70 and D50, and not to mention the D2X) have hit the market. But none of these have yet tempted me as being the right combo of price point and feature set to enduce me to switch.

I won’t be switching for some time yet, but the Nikon D200, I believe, could be another turning point device, and I will be watching its uptake carefully.

I have just heard this news regarding the likely prices for this camera and various kit lens packages and prices from the Australian importer (Maxwells) including Oz warranty.

Camera to be available early new year in Oz.
    Body only = $2899.00
Body plus new 18-200 VR Nikon lens = $3999.00
    Body plus Nikor 17-55 =$5299.00
    Body plus Nikor 17-55, Nikor 70-200 = $7999.00
